GRUPO SALAZAR´s principal, Ana Maria Salazar, is the host of two radio news programs in English and Spanish. She also host a weekly TV shoe on Law and Order issue, and frequently appears on national and international media providing political commentary.  This extensive experience has translated into an expertise as facilitator and master of ceremonies, in English and Spanish, for mayor events. For example, Ms. Salazar was the Master of Ceremonies for the CEO Summit at APEC 2002, which included the participation of 12 world leaders and 300 of the most influential CEO from the Pacific Rim countries.

Following is some examples of clients and services provided:

  • In 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, and 2006 GRUPO SALAZAR trained a team of experienced high-level government negotiators from the Mexican National Energy Regulator Commission (CRE) Federal Regulatory Improvement Commission (COFEMER), the Federal Institute for the Access to Information (IFAI), and the Federal Women´s Institute.  In 2006 Grupo Salazar trained a team of more then 40 trainers to provided self defense courses in the state of Tamaulipas.
  • In 2002, Ana Maria Salazar was the Master of Ceremonies for one of the most important international gathering in Mexico that year: The CEO Summit for the Asian Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) in Los Cabos, Mexico.  Additionally, GRUPO SALAZAR, provided analytical support for this event, including the drafting of the conclusions of the CEO Summit in both English and Spanish for publication.  In November 2003, Ms Salazar provided similar services for the World Future Society Summit that took place in Mexico City and in November of 2006 for the International Poultry and Egg Forum in Guadalajara.
  • In 2003, GRUPO SALAZAR assisted two state governments in the organization of workshops to address the new US “bioterrorism” legislation and its impact on Mexican exports.
  • In 2003, Hewlett Packard contracted Ms Salazar who provided a series of presentations for potential clients on the issue of cybersecurity and she spoke at the National Association for the Development of Tourism (AMDETUR) Summit, in Mexico City, addressing the impact of security procedures on this industry.
  • In 2001, 2002, and 2003, American law firms hired Ana Maria Salazar as an expert witness on Colombian violence, providing testimony for political asylum cases in the United States.

 Ana Maria Salazar Slack, is a recognized international law and national security expert on Latin America. She is a popular speaker at business and academic forums regarding these issues and writes a weekly column for El Universal, El Informador, El Imparcial and other major Mexican newspapers and “La Opinión” in California. She anchors two popular English speaking nation-wide radios news programs in Mexico: “Living in Mexico” and “Imagen News” http://www.imagen.com.mx/nueva/news/)  in addition to  hosting a weekly TV show “Seguridad Total” on Channel 40 (SKY 140) www.proyecto40.com.mx.  She is the author of two books: “La Guerras que vienen” (Aguilar/Nuevo Siglo 2003) and the bestseller “Seguridad Nacional Hoy. El Reto de las Democracias” (Aguilar/Nuevo Siglo 2002).
Between June 1998 and January 2001, Ms. Salazar served at the Pentagon as Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Drug Enforcement Policy and Support. As a result of her efforts at the Pentagon, in 2000 Ms. Salazar was recognized by Hispanic Business Magazine as one of the 100 most influential Hispanic Americans in the United States. Prior to joining the Pentagon, Ms. Salazar served at the White House as Policy Advisor for President Clinton’s Special Envoy for the Americas in 1998 and from March 1995 to June 1997, she served in the U.S. State Department’s Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs.
Ms. Salazar has also worked and lived in Latin America. In Colombia she served as the Judicial Attaché at the United States Embassy in Bogotá, coordinating evidence and information requests between the United States and the relevant Colombian agencies. She also has supervised multi-million dollar projects designed to improve the administration of justice in Colombia and Guatemala.
Ms. Salazar received her J.D. from Harvard Law School in 1989 and a B.A. from the University of California at Berkeley in 1986. She is admitted to practice law in Massachusetts and in the District of Columbia and is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. She has received numerous awards including the "Medal for Outstanding Public Service" and the "Joint Meritorious Award" by the U.S. Secretary of Defense, the "Medalla Militar-Ministerio de Defensa" by the Colombian President, and the "Orden Naval Almirante Padilla" by the Colombian Navy.
