Perhaps by breaking the economy of drug trafficking and disrupting their ecosystem by pumping up the supply, it could demolish cartels. Somehow, I see the Portugal model a viable solution to the Mexican drug problem.

A violent place? "Reframing Mexico" is the latest international multimedia storytelling project from Carolina Photojournalism and Multimedia. A team of UNC students and multimedia coaches collaborated with a team from Monterey Tec University to create an online documentary project that looks beyond the headlines. A warning for Mexico. As a Canadian, I am becoming increasely concerned by the violent criminality that occurs almost daily in your country. Not only will I personally NEVER visit your country because of it, I now no longer want Mexicans to be able visit my country. And that is very sad. Thirty years ago I admired Mexico for its history and culture.

Yo soy de Chihuahua (actualmente viviendo en Monterrey) y con algunas cosas estoy de acuerdo que a la fecha se aplican. En Chihuahua no hay "pulgas" (que abundan en otras partes, Monterrey incluido) ni "wifas" ni otras tonterías, y en vez de Cucuy se dice "el coco". Lo de la Llorona es del centro al sur. Lo que adminro de mi país es que hay tanta variedad de costumbres que uno no deja de asombrarse... literalmente nunca. No son mejores ni peores, simplemente distintas. Por eso... ¡Viva México!

Ana Maria. I heard you ask the Governor of Nuevo Leon if president Calderon had committed a political mistake pressing violent groups by declaring war on them. In the north eastern part of our country the violent group identified by the last letter of the alphabet already had complete domination of most poductive activities. Import, Export, Transportation monthly fees on businesses. infiltration in police forces. KIllings at key positions hindered the wish to rescue those posts. It would be suicidal. Their organization grew stronger and stronger. This group was different than previous violent groups who respected territories. Their only respect was to a commitment to grow until they dominated all other groups. they grew so fast and so organized that there has been reports of them in Central America. Most people in our area believe that President Calderon did the right thing. We see not as many little hawks, not road blocks by them,or cloned police vehicles. Little by little we are climbing back to the mexico we were inherited. When I mentioned all the activities that they had control over it sparks my mind that this group has a very powerful Godfather that has kept them going always damaging the President Image. Him and his group must be from another political preference. OSI 72
