The three amigos meet in Guadalajara…
Mexican, U.S. and Canadian leaders including U.S. President Barack Obama at his first such meeting, gathered in Guadalajara, Jalisco for a North American Summit…According to Mexico´s Ambassador in the US, Washington ruled out immediate migration reform… If it were to be possible it would be until November, or March 2010… Reportedly, the U.S. Senate is most concerned about health, energy and in third place, migration…As expected, Mexico and Canada were unable to reach an agreement about lifting the recent visa requirements imposed on Mexican citizens traveling to Canada…But, one of the agreements reached has the United States and Canada training 1,500 Mexican federal police agents…The Citizen’s Security Council called for the “Guadalajara Initiative” to be signed to provide support in the battle against criminals, kidnappers and blackmailers…
New naïve President of the PAN: Nava
César Nava was elected PAN national president… He was the only candidate… Nava said his party was strengthened by the election process…President Calderón wished Nava well at a time when the party faces challenging, but also hopeful, times. Former PAN president Germán Martínez, who resigned after poor results in recent midterm elections, said he would not quit the party and would wait for instructions from party leadership…The PRI welcomed Nava by saying the country needs politicians who can respond to citizens’ needs. (Comment: I am sure the PRI is thrilled!!! Can you imagine Nava debating Paredes or Beltrones….?)
Carlos Navarrete was ratified as PRD senators’ leader, with Silvano Aureoles Conejo as deputy … The PRD charged that fuel theft from Petróleos Mexicanos is causing the state-run oil company 20 billion pesos in losses each year…
Gunmen shot and killed lawyer Silvia Raquenel Villanueva at a mall in Monterrey, Nuevo León… She was controversial because she defended narcotics traffickers, and had suffered several attacks prior to this one, that claimed her life.
The National Human Rights Commission sent a recommendation to IMSS about the case of two minors infected with the HIV virus after receiving blood transfusions at the La Raza medical center.

Why was Silvia Villanueva killed if she was defending narcotics traffickers?
What are the 1,500 Mexican federal police agents going to be trained for? Was it anything specific or just in general an additional boost to forces?
Great site by the way!
