
++ Economy Secretary Eduardo Sojo said the federal government is preparing programs to shore up the domestic market and be in better shape to face a possible recession in the United States.
++ President Felipe Calderón called for more reforms and investment to guarantee growth.
He said that shortly contracts to build a third suburban train in Mexico City and the Metropolitan region will be opened up… which should help strengthen the domestic economy.
++ PAN president Germán Martínez said his party will analyze the energy sector and discuss it with other parties to see what kind of reforms are needed.
++ Meanwhile, PAN legislator, Cristian Castaño ruled out a quick approval of energy reform without taking into account other parties, nonetheless he warned the PAN will not permit political blackmail from other parties.
++ And PRD senator Graco Ramírez said his party is withdrawing from negotiations on energy reform… He said the PRD will not sabotage parliamentary sessions…
++ PRI senators are meeting in Mexico City to define what their aims are in the next legislative section, where labor and energy reform are to be discussed.
++ In other news, Agriculture Secretary Alberto Cárdenas, said Mexico will not renegotiate the chapter on agriculture in the North American Free Trade Agreement, given that “there is no willingness on the part of the United States or Canada to address the issue.”
++ And a judge in the Puente Grande penitentiary in Jalisco indicted Alfredo Beltrán Leyva, known as El Mochomo, and who is accused of being one of the heads of the drug cartel commanded by Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán.
