President Felipe Calderón launched his plan to combat poverty. The scheme is called “Plan 100 by 100 to combat poverty and marginalization of the 100 poorest communities of Mexico”. President Calderon also launched his “health caravans¨ (Caravanas de Salud) so that people who live in the 200 most isolated communities receive medical attention.

During his participation in the 18th meeting of Consuls and Ambassadors of Mexico, President Calderón asked that they build respectful relationships with all countries across Latin America. Calderón said that he will NOT accept humiliations or offences, but he also said that he will not hold grudges against anyone.

Consumer prices rose 4.05 percent in the 12 months through December, a higher figure than the one estimated by El Banco de Mexico-Mexico´s Central Bank.

The Supreme Court of Justice invalidated he electoral reforms approved by the Congress of Oaxaca that proposed extending local deputies´ terms by one year - this included extending the term of authorities at city councils and the postponement of elections for these posts with the intention of approving local elections to coincide with the federal elections of 2012.
