As of this Friday, the price of subsidized government-distributed Liconsa milk will go upto 4 pesos and fifty cents a liter. The price of Premium gas has gone up four percent and the price of diesel three percent.

Deputees from all parties, except the PAN, took the floor for five minutes to protest the PAN legislators´ decision of voting in favor of increasing the price of Liconsa milk.

The director of Pemex Refining, Miguel Tamez Domínguez, justified the increase of the price of gas and diesel, by saying that PEMEX needs to invest 2.7 billion dollars in order for Mexico to stop importing this type of fuel from abroad.

Afterwards President-elect Felipe Calderon met with members of the Coparmex (the Mexican Employer´s Association) and the Concamin (the National Confederation of Industrial Chambers of Mexico) where Caderon said his government will take decisions and use the force of the state to bring peace and tranquility to Mexico.

The State Council of the APPO announced its first official press release in which it states a series of radical measures to insist on the resignation of Governor Ulises Ruiz. They foresee reactivating their mobile brigades to close down all the government offices in the state.

Alejandro Encinas, the mayor of Mexico City, announced the publication in the official Mexico City gazette, the legislation recognizing gay civil unions. This makes it the first such law in the history of Mexico.

The former director of one of Mexico's oldest newspapers was found dead in his Mexico City apartment today. Mexico City police say Jose Manuel Nava's body was found by a cleaning lady who entered his apartment. They say it appears he'd been stabbed to death and that his death is being considered a homicide.

Dear Ana Maria,
We all have to recognise that in Oxaca there are many complex social problems which were not all created during the Fox’s administration, these problems have been around for ages, particularly created by the corruption of the PRI while they were at power(I mean not just local governments, seven decades of PRI have created this intricate problem).
But now is about time for us to demand PRD to take off their hand of Oxaca and allow the government to find an integral solution which is going to last a long time but is time to start solving the real problems of Mexico, like violence (Nearly 400 people executed in Michoacan just in this year) and corruption, let’s give a chance to Felipe Calderon to govern without being threaten by PRD violent groups.
