In St. Petersburg, Russia, President Fox held an informal chat with President Bush. Fox said that Bush recognized that it would be nearly impossible for the US Congress to approve an integral migration reform before the legislative elections in the USA. (Well there goes six years of work. The possibility of a mayor legislative reform of US immigration policy was the corner stone of the Fox administration’s foreign policy. They betted everything on getting something, and they got nothing. Zip. Probably will get very little attention. After all, Fox is on his way out, heading to the ranch, and the country still is not too sure who the next president will be. Hopefully, the next president, whom ever it may be, will learn from the Fox administration foreign policy failure: do not put all your “huevos” in the same basket.) Following his visit to Russia, President Fox traveled to Spain to attend the First Iberoamerican Meeting on Development and Migration. (Mmm… I am sure President Fox will have a lot of good advice for other leaders…”Do not put all your “huevos” in the same basket. You may end-up with scrambled eggs…”

Felipe Calderón said he would not accept blackmail or any threats regarding the presidential election. Calderon said he will defend every Mexican vote, as he has fought all his life for there to be free and fair elections in Mexico. (During this weekends rally at the Zocalo, AMLO pretty much issued what appeared to be a threat to Calderón, his family and his advisors.)

Lopez Obrador´s campaign team, agreed that the three parties that make up the Coalition for the Good of Everyone should re-enforce their presence outside the 300 federal districts. (Mmmmmm. Convergencia and PT party not trying hard enough? Why would they, they did pretty well thanks to their alliance with AMLO… Why risk it all by supporting a nation-wide movement that could potentially become violent if things do not go AMLO´s way?)

For the first time in 50 years, the Guelaguetza fiesta in Oaxaca was cancelled. The cancellation is due to the teachers from the 22nd Section of the Union of Teachers, who blocked the entryway to the auditorium where the Guelaguetza normally takes place. (Do not expect the federal government to step-in the near future.. Governor Ulises Ruiz, one of Roberto Madrazo´s main supporters, is on his own…) The Oaxaca hotelier association has calculated losses of 250 million pesos, while restaurants have registered losses of up to 80 million pesos.

Businessman Jean Succar Kuri, accused of child pornography, statutory rape and corruption of minors has stated to some reporters that he is innocent. (If you watched the video tapes in which this horrible human being talks about the "things" he likes to do to little girls, you would wonder how anyone could defend this piece of #$%&. How can the Governor of Puebla or Kamel Nacif sleep at night knowing they protected this animal...)
